Open ChatGPT in another tab. Copy the first prompt below, paste it into ChatGPT and answer its questions.
Don’t rush through your answers. The more useful information you give ChatGPT about your skills, experience, interests and limitations, the more personalized its suggestions can become.
The Money-Making Skills Audit
Start here. Instead of immediately asking ChatGPT how to make money, make it learn about YOU first.
Act as a business opportunity strategist. I want you to help me identify realistic ways I could make additional income based on skills, knowledge, experience and resources I already have.
Do not give me generic side-hustle ideas yet.
Instead, interview me first.
Ask me one question at a time about:
• my current and previous jobs
• skills I have learned
• things people regularly ask me for help with
• hobbies and interests
• subjects I know more about than the average person
• software or tools I know how to use
• problems I have personally solved
• things I enjoy doing
• things I absolutely do NOT want to do
• how many hours per week I can realistically commit
• whether I prefer working online, locally or both
• whether I am comfortable appearing on camera
• how much money I can afford to invest to get started
• my desired monthly income goal
Continue asking questions until you have enough information to identify my strongest monetizable skills.
Then summarize my top 5 monetizable skills and explain why each one could potentially generate income.
Why This Prompt Matters
Most people start by asking, “What’s the best side hustle?”
I think there’s a better question:
What’s the best side hustle for ME?
Someone who’s been doing hair for 15 years has a different opportunity set from someone who knows Excel, loves dogs or spent 20 years working in healthcare administration.
You may already possess something valuable. You just haven’t packaged it as something people would pay for yet.
Turn My Skills Into Income Streams
Based on everything you learned about me during the skills audit, identify 10 realistic ways I could potentially turn my existing skills, experience or knowledge into income.
For each opportunity, tell me:
1. What I would sell or do
2. Who would potentially pay for it
3. What problem I would solve
4. Whether it can be done from home
5. Approximate startup costs
6. How difficult it would be for a beginner
7. How I could find my first customers
8. Whether it could eventually become recurring or semi-passive income
9. The biggest disadvantage or obstacle
10. The first action I should take to test the idea
Do not assume that an opportunity will make money. Prioritize ideas that fit my actual skills, available time and budget rather than trendy business ideas.
Find Problems People Will Pay Me to Solve
Using my skills and experience from our previous conversation, identify specific problems people or businesses may already spend money to solve.
Give me 20 problems I may be qualified to help solve.
For each problem, identify:
• the type of person or business experiencing it
• why the problem matters to them
• what they may currently use to solve it
• a service, digital product, content business or other ethical offer I could potentially create around it
• how I could validate demand before spending significant money
Rank the opportunities from strongest to weakest based on my background and ability to get started.
This is one of my favorite ways to think about business.
Instead of saying:
“What can I sell?”
Start asking:
“What problem can I solve?”
Because when you find a real problem and put a useful solution in front of the right people, you’ve got the beginning of a business.
Find a Digital Product I Could Create
Based on my skills, experience and the problems we’ve identified, brainstorm 15 useful digital products I could potentially create.
Consider products such as:
• guides
• checklists
• templates
• spreadsheets
• planners
• workbooks
• mini-courses
• resource lists
• prompt packs
• printable tools
• swipe files
For each idea, tell me who it is for, what problem it solves, what should be included, how difficult it would be to create and where I could potentially sell it.
Then choose the THREE ideas that best match my existing knowledge and explain why.
Do not recommend creating a product solely because it is trendy. Prioritize usefulness and a clear customer problem.
Find an Affiliate Marketing Opportunity
Based on my knowledge, interests and experience, identify 10 niche topics I could potentially build helpful content around and monetize through affiliate marketing.
For each niche, identify:
• the target audience
• problems they search for online
• types of products or services they already purchase
• categories of affiliate programs that may exist
• 10 informational content ideas
• 10 buyer-intent content ideas
• potential disadvantages of entering the niche
Rank each niche based on how closely it matches my existing experience, how much useful original content I could realistically create and its potential for long-term content creation.
Do not invent affiliate programs or commission rates. If current program information is needed, tell me what needs to be researched and verified.

If you don’t want to use all of the individual prompts, here’s a master prompt that combines the process.
Act as my personal business opportunity strategist and accountability assistant.
Your goal is to help me identify and TEST realistic ways I could potentially generate additional income using my existing skills, knowledge, interests, experience and available resources.
Do not promise that I will make money. Do not immediately give me a generic list of side hustles.
PHASE 1: INTERVIEW ME
Ask me one question at a time to understand my work history, skills, interests, hobbies, resources, available time, budget, income goals, preferred work style, technology experience, problems I have solved and things I do not want to do.
PHASE 2: IDENTIFY OPPORTUNITIES

PHASE 4: VALIDATE
Choose the three strongest ideas and show me how I could research and test whether real demand exists before spending significant money.
PHASE 5: CREATE MY PLAN
After I select one opportunity, build me a personalized 30-day action plan based on the hours and budget I actually have available.
Break everything into small daily tasks and measurable weekly goals.
Do not move to the next phase until I answer the questions or approve the opportunity from the previous phase.
Start with Phase 1 and ask me your first question.
Here’s What I DON’T Want You to Do
Don’t copy a prompt, see ChatGPT say “start a digital product business,” and immediately spend $2,000 building a business nobody asked for.
Use AI to help you think and research.
Then validate the idea with real people and real market evidence.
ChatGPT can make mistakes. It can also give outdated information or confidently tell you something that simply isn’t true.
So when it gives you specific companies, affiliate programs, statistics, prices, laws or current market information, verify those claims before making a decision.
Don’t Just Chase Money. Build an Asset.
There’s another reason I like this approach.
Instead of constantly asking, “How can I make $100 today?”, eventually I want you thinking:
That might be a helpful website.
A YouTube library.
An email list.
A useful digital product.
A service with repeat customers.
Or an affiliate content business that helps people find products they were already searching for.
That’s very different from jumping from side hustle to side hustle every week.
